FlügelnWund
PatKop
„FlügelnWund“ for Violin and electronics or 4 spoken voices (2022), produced by SWR Experimentalstudio Freiburg, 2024
SCORE: https://www.harrisonparrott.com/birds...
A piece that expresses the inability to articulate the depth of human emotions in words, exploring vulnerability. There is a short poem associated with it (the spoken text in the piece), as follows:
FlügelnWund
GefangenFlug
ZickzackZickzack
HimmelsEnge
The theatrical spirit - both musically and scenically - is essential. Lighting direction is necessary and should range from semi-dark to dark in the intermediate stages. Musicians or actors should envision a scenario, moving on stage together, apart, searching, startling.
At the beginning, the violinist could enter alone onto the dimly lit stage while playing the first bar (he also doesn't need sheet music in the third bar, so he can move again). Eventually, he should stop at a central music stand. A weak vertical spotlight should illuminate him from then on. He stands like a column of sound, while the spoken voice artists could move around him like a kind of sound shadow. They could individually find their way onto the stage, perhaps occasionally glancing at each other, expressing facial expressions.
After the whispered " HimmelsEnge" is spoken at the end, an immediate blackout should occur. Imagination is key.
